Ministry Ideas

January 2014: Bible Verse Exchange: One of our men organizes a one-time, collective, constructive, and uplifting Bible verse exchange among those in his church. He selects those he thinks would be faithful, and make it fun. His instructions are as follows:

Please send an encouraging Bible verse to the person whose name is in position 1 below (even if you don't know him or her). It should be a favorite verse that has lifted you when you were experiencing challenging times. Don't agonize over it--it is one you reach for when you need it or the one that you always turn to.

 2. Name – This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

After you've sent the verse to the person in position 1, and only that person, copy this letter into a new email, move the person in position 2 to position 1 and put your name in position 2. Only one other name and your name should show when you email. Send to 20 friends BCC (blind copy). If you cannot do this in five days, let us know so it will be fair to those participating. It's fun to see where they come from. Seldom does anyone drop out, because we all need new ideas and inspiration. The turnaround is fast, as there are only two names on the list, and you only have to do it once.  August 2013: Men on Fire, Stockton Alliance Church, Stockton, CA. We are using Stepping Up: A Call to Courageous Manhood, a 10-week video series produced by Family Life. We had an all-day event on a Saturday with about 40 men attending. After the event we invited all the men come to our regular monthly meeting using the 10 week series over then months. We are getting about 25-30 men So far it has been a blessing, and many of the men are very excited about it, do the homework and talk about it.  We are foregoing our September meeting to focus on our annual men's retreat at the Alliance Redwoods.  I would highly recommend the Stepping Up series to any church, to help build their men's ministry. Tom Baker, (510) 685-791. July 2013: Men of Valor, Phillipsburg Alliance Church, Phillipsburg, NJ. The Men Of Valor ministry leads men through the book Wild At Heart by John Eldredge in small group studies of 6 to 8 men per group. Each study lasts about 18 weeks and at the end of the study the men start a new study and alternate it with time ministering in the community by bringing meals to shut ins and doing prayer walks every other week.

Men Of Valor also offers men's retreats (known as boot camps) where the Wild At Heart material is presented in a single weekend. The retreat begins on Friday evening and runs through Sunday afternoon combining 9 teaching sessions with time alone with God as well as outdoor activities.

The Men Of Valor team has a strong desire to see men's hearts healed, restored and set free by Jesus Christ. The team is seeking opportunities to bring the men's retreat experience to other areas and would love to hear from you. Web:  http://men-of-valor.com .
